Reflections from the Founder – Ryan Sailsman

As the founder of SHOA, I was recently invited to share my thoughts on the future of the design and architecture industry, a conversation that naturally brought me back to my own journey. Transitioning from being a student to establishing a company in such a competitive field has been as humbling as it has been inspiring. I’ve always believed that architecture isn’t just about buildings, it’s about identity, storytelling, and representation. SHOA was conceived to reflect those values: to give designers a platform where their voice is as central as their output.

Looking ahead, the pace of change in our industry is undeniable. The integration of AI and advanced digital tools has reshaped not only how we design, but how we think about design. Rather than replacing the creative process, I see these technologies as amplifying our ability to ideate, refine, and deliver smarter, more responsive spaces. At SHOA, we embrace these advancements but always through a lens of human intuition and narrative.

Founding this company was never about following trends it was about building a brand that reflects our shared design culture, values originality, and offers a grounded but bold vision for the future. Every project we take on is an opportunity to blend innovation with soul. My hope is that SHOA continues to lead with authenticity, adapt with intelligence, and design with purpose.
